Variances in
stencil thickness affect print quality considerably and should be
examined regularly. Measure stencil thickness with confidence using
a ProTek II automatic stencil thickness gauge.
The ProTek II
SP is a special model for screen printing applications that reads
the stencil thickness and displays the emulsion over mesh ratio
automatically. Unlike other gauges, it does not require extra push
button action or zero adjustment for every measurement.
The SP gauge
will automatically calculate and display:
| <M> |
the
average of the mesh thickness readings |
<E> |
the average of the emulsion thickness readings |
DIF |
the difference of the emulsion and mesh thickness readings --
the emulsion build-up
(<E> - <M>) |
EMR |
the emulsion mesh ratio as a %
(<E> - <M>) ÷ <M> or DIF ÷ <M> |
For general
printing (not fine detail), an emulsion build-up (DIF) of 20%
of the mesh thickness provides excellent print resolution and edge
definition. For example, with a mesh thickness of 60 microns the
emulsion build-up over the mesh should be about 12 microns.
For UV printing,
halftone, and fine detail printing applications, a
10%-12% emulsion mesh ratio (EMR) is required, with an emulsion
build-up over the mesh of about 5 microns.
Using a menu
driven system with LCD prompts and a simple three-key user prompt,
the SP gauge has been designed to provide a wide array of functions
while maintaining simplicity, ease and speed in its operation. Access
any function by simply scrolling through some on-screen menus and
selecting the desired option for each.
