Snap Shot:

A single measurement takes place as soon as the probe is placed on the surface even if the probe is not placed properly. Therefore, sometimes the displayed reading may not represent the actual thickness.

Continuous:

As the probe reaches the surface, measurements start taking place continuously and will be displayed as long as the probe stays on the surface. As soon as the probe is lifted from the surface, this process stops and the display shows no reading.
